Millbrook band, DFO sign 3-year fishing agreement

After months of sometimes acromonious negotiations, the Millbrook band council has signed a $25-million, three-year interim fishing agreement with the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Chief Lawrence Paul said the deal will allow the band to build and operate a $4-million aquaculture operation and expand traditional fishing operations without compromising aboriginal or treaty rights.
